Metrics for multivariate stable distributions

چکیده

Metrics are proposed for the distance between two multivariate stable distributions. The first set of metrics are defined in terms of the closeness of the parameter functions of one dimensional projections of the laws. Convergence in these metrics is equivalent to convergence in distribution and an explicit bound on the closeness of two stable densities is given. Another metric based on the Prokhorov metric between the spectral measures is related to the first metric. Consequences for approximation, simulation and estimation are discussed.

A Survey of Spatial Extremes: Measuring Spatial Dependence and Modeling Spatial Effects

Abstract: • We survey the current practice of analyzing spatial extreme data, which lies at the intersection of extreme value theory and geostatistics. Characterizations of multivariate max-stable distributions typically assume specific univariate marginal distributions, and their statistical applications generally require capturing the tail behavior of the margins and describing the tail depen...

Simple techniques for likelihood analysis of univariate and multivariate stable distributions: with extensions to multivariate stochastic volatility and dynamic factor models

In this paper we consider a variety of procedures for numerical statistical inference in the family of univariate and multivariate stable distributions. In connection with univariate distributions (i) we provide approximations by finite location-scale mixtures and (ii) versions of approximate Bayesian computation (ABC) using the characteristic function and the asymptotic form of the likelihood ...

Information Covariance Matrices for Multivariate Burr III and Logistic Distributions

Main result of this paper is to derive the exact analytical expressions of information and covariance matrices for multivariate Burr III and logistic distributions. These distributions arise as tractable parametric models in price and income distributions, reliability, economics, Human population, some biological organisms to model agricultural population data and survival data. We showed that ...

Information and Covariance Matrices for Multivariate Pareto (IV), Burr, and Related Distributions

Main result of this paper is to derive the exact analytical expressions of information and covariance matrix for multivariate Pareto, Burr and related distributions. These distributions arise as tractable parametric models in reliability, actuarial science, economics, finance and telecommunications. We showed that all the calculations can be obtained from one main moment multidimensional integr...

An overview of multivariate stable distributions

A d-dimensional α-stable random vector is determined by a spectral measure Γ (a finite Borel measure on Sd=unit sphere in R) and a shift vector μ ∈ R, e.g. Samorodnitsky and Taqqu (1994). The notation X ∼ Sα,d(Γ, μ) will be used to denote such a stable random vector. Until recently, there has been little understanding of what multivariate stable distributions look like, nor any methods for work...
